16 Weeks

Well, not much has happened since the last blog, but I finally uploaded the pictures from the other week. These were taken on Saturday, I was 14 weeks and 6 days. This was my first pair of maternity pants. I love how they are still stylish. And I especially love the lower band. I'm just not big enough yet for the full band.

Here you can kind of see the bump. This was the first time that people started telling me, "Oh you'r finally starting to show." I felt like I'd been showing for a while.

So the following Monday, Andy took me out shopping for more pants. Thursday, my mom and I went to Destination Maternity for a huge shopping spree. Andy sold his paintball gear and gave me half so I could buy a new wardrobe. I bought 7 tops, 1 dress, and 1 pair of jeans (well, actually my mom bought 3 of the tops because they were over my budget). I found some really great deals. Next month I will need to add some long sleeve stuff and possibly a jacket. The hard part in being pregnant in the winter and then in the spring. I need two sets of clothes to get through, but oh well, just more shopping.

Andy's business is really taking off. He has signed up 3 students in one week and has already talked to another parent that is coming next Monday. We still feel that this is what he is suppose to be doing. Everytime I start to get nervous, God provides to show that this is his plan for us.

Maternity clothes and Doctor appointment

Well, my friends, I had my second doctor appointment on Monday. It was great. I am good and the baby is doing fine. Of course, this was suppose to be a quick appointment. Oh no, we were there for an hour and a half. We waited in the waiting room for 30 minutes. Got taken back to a room, where the little medical assistant/nurse was kind of clueless. Then we waited for 30 minutes for the nurse practitioner to come in. We had our appointment with the NP this time because our doctor was not in. She had a hard time finding the baby with the heart monitor. She said not to worry, this happens a lot at my stage because the baby is so small. Also, the baby is in the back of the uterus, which makes it difficult to find. So, she brought in the ultrasound machine, and we got to see the baby. The baby was hanging out right next to my right hip. It was practically under my hip. Kind of crazy. Little one was moving around and kicking. Andy was really hoping to be able to see if the baby is a girl or boy, but he/she had it's back to us. No luck. We have to wait 4 more weeks.



Saturday I broke down and bought a pair of maternity pants. For the past few weeks I've been getting by with the whole rubber band through the button hole to add some more room. Saturday, the jeans that fit last week, just didn't fit as well this week. So at 14 weeks and 6 days, I finally wore my first pair of maternity capris, and let me tell you, they are so comfortable. Being that I'm in dance clothes Monday-Friday, I haven't really had to worry about clothes fitting. But the weekends have finally become difficult. Monday morning I put on a pair of bermuda shorts that fit last weekend...no such luck. Andy took me out after the doctor appointment and bought me another pair of capris and a pair of pants. I also ordered some stuff from oldnavy.com. To all my pregnant friends, they are having a huge sale right now. I bought capris for $5.99. Awesome deal!


I have pictures to document the momentous occasion of wearing maternity pants for the first time. Unfortunately, my camera is not cooperating. I will add those pictures soon.

Grandma Lupe Update

First of all, I want to thank those of you who have been praying for Andy's grandmother and family. We appreciate it more than you know. Lupe is doing much better. They found some blockage in one of her arteries, but decided that she was not strong enough for major surgery. They put her on a pace maker this weekend. She seems to be responding very well to it. They moved her out of the hospital and into the Huebner Rehabilitation Center for one week. Hopefully after that she will be able to go home. Home is the next obsticale. We are starting to feel that it might not be the best thing for Lupe to be home by herself anymore. This is going to be a challenge. Where will she stay and who gets to break this news to this 84 year old independent woman. Please continue to pray that God will provide the best answers and solutions to what is best for Lupe.


On another note, Andy and I have decided to take a major leap of faith in Andy's job. Andy has taken this next month off under FMLA. His plan is to build his studio and be able to leave Enterprise at the end of the month. For those of you who don't know, Andy has been teaching private voice and guitar for the past nine months. He has a great opportunity to sign up several students through a private school in Boerne. Andy has wanted to own his own business for some time and absolutely loves teaching. We are trusting that this job change is of God and that he will guide us through this major shift in finances.
