Lyla turns 3!!!!

It happened. As much as I didn't want it to, it happened. Lyla turned 3. I know every parent says it, but I just don't know where the time has gone. There are days that I look at her and think, "what happened to my baby?" But I also love this stage...no diapers, no nap time, she can communicate, it's great. We play and laugh all the time! Of course, with better communication comes demands, fights, and reasoning! Who knew that could happen! On April 15th, we had Lyla's birthday party at Pump It Up. She went to a birthday party there back in December and had a blast. I decided then and there that we would have her party there as well. It was so easy too. No clean up, no prep, the staff does it all. And all kids (and parents) are easily entertained. Lyla had a blast!!!! She ran and jumped and played the entire time. The two other times we've been to Pump it Up she wanted me with her every second, but not at her party. She was with her friends and having the time of her life! That being said, it was very hard to capture any pictures of her playing. So here's some from the party room. All the girls
And all the boys
Lyla and her sweet friend Lily. I just love this picture.
Lyla's actual birthday was Monday, April 16th. I decided to take the day off to spend with the birthday girl. I got to take her to dance class and then the two of us went to brunch at Peach Cafe in Boerne. I love this place and it was so much fun to eat on china and a "big girl" place with Lyla.
We then walked around down by the river before heading home to throw on our swim suits and play with her new water table.
Later on that day I took Lyla for her 3 year check up....no shots!! I think that was my favorite part. Lyla is 39.5 inches (75th percentile) and 29.5 lbs (20th percentile). Tall and skinny. Dr. Wood was very impressed with Lyla's verbal skills and her speedy development. Lyla sure did love showing off all of her talents. All in all it was a great birthday with my sweet three year old.

Easter Weekend 2012

This year Easter was a lot of fun. Lyla is really starting to get Santa, the Easter Bunny, gifts, etc. For the past few weeks every time she sees something at the store she likes I tell her, "you'll have to ask the Easter Bunny." This lead to her picking up everything in sight and saying, "can the Easter Bunny bring me this?" Yup, didn't think that one through. Her birthday is shortly after Easter, so she really didn't get that her Easter presents weren't her birthday presents. I came home from the store on day with egg coloring kits and she got so excited, "yay, my birthday present!" If only I had known I could have gotten away with such a cheap gift!

Friday morning Lyla and I headed out to our church Easter Extravaganza. (We let daddy sleep in a rest this year). She LOVES doing crafts and wearing dresses. That's exaclty how I talked her in to going. We had a blast together making little easter bunny faces, eating cookies and jumping in the bounce houses. (Okay the last one she did with her friends, although she tried to get mommy to jump with her). She racked in the Easter eggs at the hunt. I'm pretty sure she came home with 2 dozen eggs. Last year she would slowly pick up an egg, open it, put it in her basket and then move on. This year she was picking up every egg in sight. Then she enjoyed going through the contents at home later!

Friday afternoon we made plans with my parents to take the boat out. After the boys replaced the started and cleaned the carbirator (don't I sound like I know what I'm talking about?) we loaded up the boat and headed out to canyon. Unfortunately the boat wouldn't start....staying running...once we got it on the water. So we loaded it back up and headed to the closest Dairy Queen. We endulged in some ice cream and headed home.

Saturday Lyla had a birthday party to go to. I won't even go into detail about what a grumpy girl she was. She perked up when she got to drive the shopping cart at HEB.

And that night Daddy had a gig at Dog and Pony. Lyla had a blast playing, dancing in front of the stage and even made a new friend. This sweet little girl, Alexis....Lyla lovingly called her Flexus (I think she is stuck on Flex from Bob the Builder)got Lyla to PLAY IN THE SAND BOX!!! If you know my daughter you know this is a HUGE DEAL!

Andy and I talked to the Easter Bunny about coming while we were at church on Sunday since Andy had to sing and one church and I had to work the church nursery at our church. However, the Easter Bunny must have known that Lyla would wake up early because he snuck her basket out early, hid her eggs and filled her basket with presents! He also knew to cut back on the candy since she got so much from the church egg hunt. Lyla was so excited to see her "birthday" presents from the Easter Bunny. Sure! I guess that works too. She then had fun hunting for her eggs before getting ready for church.

Unfortunatley I am a horrible mom and got no pictures of Lyla, her basket, or her egg hunt!

Later on Sunday afternoon, after mommy got some sun, and Lyla got a nap, Andy's mom and sibling came up to visit!

All in all it was a fabulous three day weekend celebrating our Savior and spending sweet time with family!
