Andy meets Lyla

Last night Andy was able to feel Lyla move for the first time at 20 weeks and 3 days. It wasn't strong, and he had to be very patient, but he got to feel what I've been feeling for the past few weeks. We just laid in bed with his hand on my belly and talked and waited. She was moving a lot, but not all were strong enough for him to feel. But once he got the hang of what he was suppose to be feeling, he got to feel several movements. We were both excited because we didn't expect him to be able to feel her for several more weeks. We both can't wait until she is bigger so we can tell what body part we are feeling. It's just such an exciting experience and I'm glad I can now share that with him.

Andy is still having a hard time calling her Lyla. He still calls her baby when we talks to her. He does refer to her as a girl (which is good), but he said it still feels weird to call her by name. Hopefully feeling her move will make it more real and deepen the connection.

On a side note, we also got her cradle last night. One of my dance team moms, Debi Solis, gave us a beautiful wooden cradle that she used with her youngest son. It is in great condition and is going to look great in our bedroom. Right now it is in the guest bedroom/undecorated nursery with a few teddy bears keeping it warm until Lyla comes. I am so thankful that so many people are willing to reach out and help us out. I'm also honored to be able to us a cradle that was so loved by someone else. I love hand-me-downs.
