Lyla is now 13 months old and still not walking. Now don't let me get you wrong, she is perfectly capable of walking, she just refuses to. She started cruising the furniture and pushing her toys around 7 months old. We thought she would be walking by Christmas. Boy were we wrong. Lyla has taken a few steps here and there but nothing consistent. For a long time I was perfectly content with her crawling. It keeps her a baby. But now, it's kind of annoying. She doesn't like to be dirty so she won't play in the yard. If she's crawling around outside she's not happy, not to mention she gets her knees and clothes dirty. It's also frustrating when she wants to crawl around in public places. Now, I know what you are probably thinking....don't wish walking...they never stop. But I've had a good run with crawling. I'm hoping walking will happen soon.
Other than that, Lyla is doing great. She got a clean bill of health at her doctor's appointment (even though she only put on 13 ounces in 3 months). She is talking like crazy. She says "nana" which started out for banana but now can also mean yogurt or simply breakfast. She says "ba" for ball, bottle, and book. She says duck, dog, dada, but rarely mama. It's so much fun to listen to her talk to herself or make herself laugh. Her personality sure is fun.
Lyla is starting to show her strong will. She throws food on the floor when she's done eating and can be very demanding with what she wants. Fortunately I wrote the book on being a strong willed child.
Andy and I are doing great! I think we've finally found a grove of working together with Lyla, spending time together and getting stuff done. It's been a rough year, but we are coming through. We are looking forward to two more weeks of school and then a very fun summer.
I'll leave you with a few pictures from Lyla's 1 year photo shoot.

I loved these pictures from her 1 year shoot!
I would impart some very profound "walking" knowledge but I know now that she is starting {thank goodness for facebook!}.
