Boat Ownership

About 10 days ago we purchased a boat. Yes, that's right, we are boat owners. We, being Andy and I along with my parents. Andy has had the boat itch for a few months now and really started doing some research and searching on Craig's List. After much discussion between the two of us and with my parents, we decided to give it a go. We purchased a 1998, 19 foot Tahoe Ski Boat.

While Andy was a kid at Christmas when we met the owner to do the ole' trade off, I was a little more apprehensive. I told him once we are on the boat I will enjoy it but right now all I see are dollar signs. Yes, I am often the pessimist. Someone has to be, right?

So last weekend (Saturday) we took it out on Medina Lake for it's Maiden Voyage. It wouldn't start. Yes, you read that right...the boat wouldn't start. Remember the kid at Christmas (i.e. my husband)? Well, in all his excitement of having a new toy to work on for hours each night, he drained the battery. So much so that even with the efforts of jumps from two different boats, it still wouldn't turn over. So after two hours of the men working on trying to get the boat to work, and mom and I sunbathing on the front, we decided to pack up and head home. The men took the batteries to get charged and everything was good for attempt number two on Sunday.

We met my sister in Spring Branch and headed out to Canyon Lake. It was a blast. Lyla even tagged along. She wasn't a huge fan of her life jacket, but once we got going she was fine. She loved walking back and forth and looking at everything.

She's even a great sleeper on the boat. Nothing like a big, hug rocking chair.

We took the boat back out this weekend on Sunday and Monday. I even attempted skiing again. I got up!!! WooHoo! I just didn't stay up. But don't worry, by the end of the summer I'll be a pro....I don't like to fail.

Here are some pictures from our adventures.
