Easter Weekend

This year we had a blast during Easter. Lyla was old enough get into the festivities. We started off Friday morning with the Easter Extravaganza at our church. The had bubbles, crafting and and egg hunt. Lyla had a great time. She loves crafts (thanks to her weekly visits to Story Time with Mimi). She was hilarious at the egg hunt. She would open up and inspect each egg before putting them in her basket. All the kids in the 0-2 age group were so funny. There were tons of eggs spread out on the lawn of the church and yet each child got bored very quickly, or should I say satisfied with their few eggs. I think they ended up letting the big kids come by later to collect the remaining eggs.

Friday evening Lyla took her 2 year old pictures with Yvonne. We took the pictures at Boerne River with the ducks. They are fabulous!! And then we headed over to Tin Roof to watch Daddy sing. Lyla also went pee pee in the restaurant potty 4 times and kept her diaper dry the whole night. A huge milestone in our potty training.

Saturday morning we had a showing on the house, so we packed up and headed out to Fredricksburg where we picked strawberries. We had so much fun. The strawberries are smaller than what you find in the store, but taste sooo good. Lyla wasn't to into the picking, but loved to eat them up. We then had lunch and walked around the shops before heading home for a much needed nap time.

After napping, we dyed Easter eggs. This was a big tradition in my family, but last year Lyla was to young to get it. She had so much fun dropping the eggs in the different colors. Many of hers came out tye-dyed, but that's okay. She then got to decorate them with stickers.

We left the Easter eggs and her basket out for the Easter bunny.

Sunday morning Lyla woke up to a full basket! She was so excited to go through it all. The Easter bunny brought her a stuffed bunny, crayons for her easel, a toddler bible and some candy. Yum! We then went out on the deck to hunt her Easter eggs.

Sunday afternoon we spent on the lake! We picked up Aunt Auti, Mimi and Guy Guy and headed out. It was a beautiful day and so relaxing.

It was such an enjoyable three day weekend. We had some much needed family time. Next year I look forward to explaining more about the real reason for Easter. But until then I sure have enjoyed reading the stories out of Lyla's new bible to her at night time.
