Last night Andy, Lyla and I went over to my parent's house to help decorate sugar cookies. It is pretty much a holiday tradition for my dad to make homemade sugar cookies topped with homemade icing. He was really looking forward to having Lyla help decorate so of course we had to make that happen. We came armed with "prickles" (sprinkles) and mini M&M's to keep the little helper entertained.
Lyla climbed up on a chair to help Guy Guy make the icing....
and then we sat around the table and iced and sprinkled cookies for a good hour.
It was so much fun! I have to say that as a child, icing cookies was not my favorite thing to do. Too time consuming. I prefer to enjoy the finished product. But having everyone around the table and watching Lyla make each cookie "booteeful" made it worth it. Not to mention my mom's favorite rule....if you break the cookie while icing it, you must eat it!
