Where do I begin?

It has been way too long since my last post. I have sat at my computer many times thinking, "I need to update my blog," but I'm so far behind that I don't even know where to start. So let's see.... May was crazy busy! We pretty much had something every weekend. In one week I had my dance team spring show and banquet and Andy had his spring studio recital. However, all were a success! My spring show was a full house and Andy's recital, which is a dinner theater and fundraiser for his scholarship fund, profited over $1,500! He was so excited! The school year is a coming to a close. I am so ready for a break, but first I've got camp! I am ready for sleeping in, being lazy and spending tons of hours at the pool. The first weekend in May we took Lyla's 3 year old pictures with Yvonne Robles at Cornyval in Helotes. It was Lyla's first carnival. She had a blast! It was such a fun place to take pictures. Here's a few I captured!
For Mother's Day Lyla and I went for a mani/pedi. Lyla is so in to painting her nails, but she has never been until now. I desperately need a mani/pedi and thought it would be some funny mommy/daughter time. We had a blast! We were at the salon for 2 hours and she did great. They even had a little pedicure chair for her. I think she's hooked!
Memorial Day Weekend we had the awesome opportunity to go back to my Aunt and Uncle's new river house. They purchased a house in Gruene...right on the river. We spent the weekend there the first weekend in May and were so thankful to go back. The rolling hill filled with green grass, the shade from the trees, the cool (okay cold) river! It was a blast! Lyla had so much fun with her cousins. She just runs around like she is one of them.
On Wednesday Andy turned 32! I still can't believe he is that old. Okay, for those of you reading that are in your 30's or older, I apologize. But I met Andy when he was 24 and I still feel like he is the same age! My parents and sister joined us for dinner on Tuesday night at Longhorn Steakhouse. It was nice to be all together and Andy got showered with tools! Wednesday night Lyla and I sang him happy birthday and Lyla helped blow out his candles. I couldn't find my 2 candle so we clumped 3 pink candles and 2 green candles to make up for it!
This past week has also been especially trying for Andy. For those of you who don't know, Andy woke up Saturday morning and couldn't hear out of his left ear. He thought it was just some wax compaction so he shot some water in his ear and got some over the counter meds to help break it up. That night, on his way home from Gruene, Andy stopped by Urgent Care. The doctor was kind enough to look in his ear at no charge. He found Andy's ear to be completely clear...a little red from Andy messing with it all day, but no wax compaction. Sunday morning was much the same. One of Andy's former student's dad is a doctor and he offered to give Andy's ear a look at no charge. He couldn't figure it out either. Luckily our sweet friend Jamie (she just finished medical school) suggested that Andy get on steroids within 72 hours of the onset. Dr. B agreed and called in a prescription. Tuesday morning Andy woke up and went straight to the ENT. He figured he would sit in the waiting room until they could squeeze him in. The doctor confirmed hearing loss. He said it was 4 possibilities. He was so thankful that our friend Jamie had the forethought to get Andy on a steroid. He said the worse thing about sudden hearing loss is that people take too long to do something about it. The ENT upped the amount of steroids Andy is taking and scheduled a MRI to hopefully rule out a tumor and/or hemorrhage. Andy had the MRI today and now we wait. He did say that he has regained a little bit of his hearing today. I'm praying that it's a viral infection (one of the possibilities) and that he will quickly regain his hearing! So that's our May. Be on the look out for a "Lyla Lately." That girl is a post all her own!
