She still loves airplanes. She can hear them from far away and wants to go outside to watch them and wave bye.
Lyla loves being a big helper. She likes to help put the clothes in the dryer and throw things away. She also has gotten into a phase were she wants to sit on the counter while I pour her milk so she can help put the lid on her cup. So cute! She also helps my mom feed the kitty-kitty every time she is over there. This does mean that she is getting better about picking up her toys. Thankfully Andy is really working on that during the day. Lyla also is picking up some of her mother's cleaning tendencies. The other day she took her paper towel and started wiping everything. The table, the chairs, mommy's legs, her own legs. I realized I had just dusted the day before and she picked up on that! She notices everything.
She has become a jabbering freak. She talks all the time. And she knows what she is saying. It's so funny to listen to her go off. She is adding to her vocabulary regularly. She now says thank you and good job. She says her own name, but I still don't think she has said Grammy. Poor Grammy, she says Mama, Dada, Guy Guy (Big Guy for my dad), but no Grammy. Juice, milk, cheese, nana (for all fruit) are pretty much all her food words. Katie, her babysitter is teaching her random things like turtle and octopus. I love that she is learning so much from everyone. I'm sure there are other words that I am forgetting. She can mimic just about anything.
Lyla's personality comes out more and more every day. She has my strong will. She knows what she wants and when she wants it. This has made eating quite interesting. She has gone through several phases of not wanting to eat at meals. She is also learning her limits. She has started hitting when she gets frustrated. Normally it's just hitting her legs to show she's angry or hitting the thing that isn't working. (Gosh that doesn't sound like anyone I know...) But sometimes it means she hits Mommy or Daddy and thus ends up in time out. But I guess we all have to start somewhere.
Lyla has given up her high chairs. At home she just has a booster with a tray, but she no longer wants the tray. She wants to eat at the table like a big girl. At restaurants she will only sit in a booster. She just wants to be big.
This school year my mom is watching Lyla two days a week. This means that Andy usually drops her off on Monday and she spends the night. I get home late from BSF and never see her awake on Mondays, so this worked. Then my mom takes Lyla to story time at one of the local libraries on Tuesday mornings and then we meet for lunch. She says Lyla is loving the story time and especially the play centers they set up. This is also a great place for Lyla to socialize. Because she isn't in daycare, story time and Sundays in the nursery are about it. Andy is still looking into play groups and other fun things to do in the mornings. But on the flip side, Lyla hasn't been sick. Yes, we've had the occasional cold or slight fever from teething, but nothing major. I am so blessed that by staying home she is staying healthy.
Well, I guess that's all for now. I'm sure there is so much more that I have missed. I need to be better about blogging. And sadly this is the only picture I have from the past month. Yes, I'm a terrible mother!
