Nursey additions

I originally wanted to hang Lyla's name in wooden letters over the crib. Andy didn't like that idea because everyone is doing that right now. (That's also the reason I'm not allowed to have a cross wall in the house). Andy likes to be different. He was willing to compromise and let me put wooden letters on the shelf over the window. Well, while I was at my dance convention at the beginning of the month, I saw this great idea with wooden blocks. I took a picture of it and sent it to Andy. He loved the idea. I decided to paint each block a color from the fabric we used on the bulletin board. One, it would tie in the bulletin board and two, it would bring in some more color to the room. Andy added that we should wrap the letters in the bear fabric. It was a great idea. Now, it did take me 2 hours to wrap 4 wooden letters. I am very thankful we decided on a Lyla instead of Mikayla. That would have taken forever. Below is the final product. (You'll have to click on the picture to see the fabric letters close up).

As many of you know, my mom gives us a gift package each month for Lyla. It always includes a package of diapers and some books. Then she will include something from my registry for the room. This month she got us the wall hangings. I actually went shopping with her this time. Watching my mom buy childrens books cracks me up. She spent over $50 in books. Everything she bought was on sale though. I didn't get all 9 books, but at least she has enough books to give me some the next two months. She just goes crazy when it comes to Lyla. In the picture below you see two of the hangings. The third one is on the opposite wall. Also, I finally got the cushions that go to the glider.

The nursery has come together so quickly. I'm so thankful to everyone who has helped, especially Andy who has hung, built and arranged! I can't wait to get in there and play dolls (yes, I know we have a while until Lyla is big enough) and interact with Lyla in her very own room.
