Lake Vacation

Every year (for at least the past 8 years) we have gone to the coast for a small vacation during the summer. However, my sweet little Lyla is terrified of sand. Yes, you heard me right. I think it has to do with the texture and her hatred of all things dirty. Last summer we had to hold her the entire time we were down at the beach. Shoes wouldn't stop this year from freaking out. So this spring I proposed that we go to the lake instead. We bought a boat last summer, so why not put it to good use? My mom did a ton of research on houses at different lakes, but with the drought we decided on Lake LBJ. Lake Travis would have been closer, but it is not maintained at a constant level like LBJ.

So we loaded up on Friday and headed out! The house was so cute. Small, nothing spectacular, but it had a huge yard, with GREEN GRASS (I almost forgot what that looked like) and a boat dock. Perfection! It was probably the most relaxing trip I've been on in a while. It wasn't too hot when sitting under the trees. We got to enjoy the boat and the awesome knee board my husband bought. Lyla got to play in the water and spend time with Mimi, Guy Guy and Aunt Auti. And this trip she was all about Aunt Auti. I think she really missed my sister during her 6 week stay in Costa Rica.

We packed back up Monday and headed back home. I so could have stayed at least one more day, but my dad and Autumn had to work on Tuesday. And poor Autumn hadn't worked in 8 weeks due to her Costa Rica trip and so she desperately needed to get back to making money. We all know how that feels!

Gorgeous view from the boat dock.

MIss Stylin! (She has finally gotten into wearing sunglasses. And she held on to them like this every time the boat was moving).

Pure happiness!

Last morning boat ride.

My sweet little family.

All in all it was a great trip. I think we will do it again next year!
